Egyptian Swiss Group Bets on Jordan as Gateway for Regional Expansion

Amman, Jordan In a strategic move to strengthen its regional footprint, Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling, and Concentrates has chosen Jordan as a key gateway to expand its presence across Middle Eastern markets. This decision comes amid over 30% growth in Egyptian food industry exports to Jordan

The announcement coincides with the group’s first participation in the International Food and Food Technology Exhibition (InftExpo 2025), held in Jordan from August 12 to 14, 2025

Jordan: A Promising and Strategic Market

According to Ahmed Younes from the group’s export department, Jordan is not merely a new export destination, but a pivotal anchor in the company’s external expansion strategy, thanks to its geographic location connecting multiple markets including Palestine, Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. Younes noted that Jordan ranked seventh among Egypt’s top food importers in 2024 with imports worth $247 million (up 32%), and advanced to sixth place in the first half of 2025 with $135 million in imports, reflecting growing demand and market capacity

A Calculated Expansion Strategy

The group’s plan in Jordan focuses on gradually increasing export volumes—currently at modest levels—emphasizing pasta and concentrates as primary products, supported by a growing network of partnerships with major Jordanian importers and distributors

Abnoub Gerges, also from the export department, highlighted that InftExpo offers a golden opportunity to build new partnerships, explore wider collaboration, and open sustainable export channels to neighboring markets

Jordan as a Launchpad for Regional Growth

Gerges believes that success in Jordan will serve as a springboard into broader regional markets, given the country’s strategic location, active trade ecosystem, and diverse distribution channels. He also Jordan’s high purchasing power and strong demand for products such as sauces—offering a competitive edge for the group’s portfolio

During the exhibition, Zuheir Harb, Director General of the Jordan Foodstuff Traders Association, visited the group’s booth, expressing interest in expanding cooperation and increasing the share of high-quality Egyptian products in the Jordanian market
