Egyptian Swiss for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates Celebrates 30 Years of Industrial Excellence

Egyptian Swiss for Pasta

From a Modest Trading Venture to an Industrial Powerhouse Exporting to Over 50 Countries

The Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its establishment, marking one of the most compelling success stories in Egypt’s industrial sector. What began in 1995 as a modest flour trading business founded by the Lawendy family has evolved—through perseverance, strategic vision, and sustained investment—into a leading industrial group operating across the milling, pasta, and concentrates industries in the Middle East

Today, the group accounts for approximately 15% of Egypt’s flour exports and 10% of its pasta exports, underscoring its growing influence in regional and global markets

Hany Lawendy, Chairman of the Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates, stated that reaching the 30-year milestone represents the culmination of decades of hard work and long-term commitment to growth and value creation

He explained that the group’s transformation toward industrial manufacturing began in 2003, a pivotal year marked by the establishment of its first mill through a partnership in Assiut. This was followed by the launch of Egyptian Swiss for Milling in 2005, and a major strategic leap in 2007 with the construction of the Alexandria mill. Expansion continued in 2010 with the group’s entry into 10th of Ramadan City, where it inaugurated its pasta factory in 2013, followed by the establishment of the group’s second mill within the same industrial complex in 2018. These milestones collectively shifted the group from a limited trading operation into a fully integrated industrial entity

Investing in People and Institutional Culture

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the group organized an internal event bringing together employees to mark the achievement. The full-day program featured training sessions, interactive workshops, and team-building activities aimed at enhancing workforce capabilities and reinforcing the importance of collaboration, effective communication, and collective effort as core drivers of long-term success

Ahmed Elsebaie: Export Growth and Stronger Governance

Eng. Ahmed Elsebaie, General Manager of the group, who joined Egyptian Swiss five years ago, highlighted that the most recent phase focused on strengthening the group’s institutional structure and governance framework

He revealed that the group successfully doubled its exports in 2025, while recording significant growth in flour exports during the same period—despite a decline of more than 30% in Egypt’s overall flour exports

“When I joined the group, our goal was to build on its solid foundations by launching a new phase centered on governance, transparency, and the separation of ownership from management,” Elsebaie said

He added that over the past five years, Egyptian Swiss has significantly expanded its international footprint, with its flour, pasta, and concentrates now reaching more than 50 countries worldwide

EGP 5 Billion in Investments and a Global Export Footprint

Founded in 1995, the Egyptian Swiss Group has grown into one of Egypt’s leading industrial players in pasta, milling, and concentrates, with total investments exceeding EGP 5 billion. The group operates a fully integrated industrial ecosystem comprising a pasta factory with a monthly capacity of 8,000 tons, two mills with a combined capacity of 30,000 tons of flour per month, and a sauce factory producing 3,000 tons per month. It also owns wheat silos with a storage capacity of 50,000 tons and employs more than 700 professionals

Exports Exceed $50 Million Across Global Markets

The group’s annual revenues currently exceed EGP 5 billion, while exports have surpassed $50 million, reaching over 50 countries worldwide. More than 80% of production is exported to markets across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States, supported by international quality certifications and compliance with global standards

The Egyptian Swiss story stands as a testament to how clear vision, institutional discipline, and unwavering determination can transform humble beginnings into a globally competitive industrial success
