The Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates is preparing to enter the Chinese market for the first time, after completing the required export procedures and registration with Chinese customs, paving the way for the group to begin exporting its products to China
Engineer Ahmed El-Sebaie, General Manager of the Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling and Concentrates, said the group has obtained the required certification for exporting its products to China and completed its registration with Chinese customs
He added that the group has begun assembling a dedicated team for the Chinese market to manage communications with companies and customers, study market dynamics and assess consumer preferences and demand
Pasta and flour are currently among the group’s key products targeted for export to China, El-Sebaie said
He noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Cairo is expected to provide further momentum to economic and trade relations between Egypt and China, creating additional opportunities for cooperation between companies in both countries
El-Sebaie pointed to China’s efforts to facilitate access for African products to its market, saying such measures could create new opportunities for Egyptian companies seeking to expand their exports to China, one of the world’s largest consumer markets
Egyptian Swiss Group in Talks With Major Chinese Bakery Compan
El-Sebaie revealed that the group received a Chinese delegation last month representing one of the country’s largest bakery companies to explore potential cooperation opportunities, particularly in the flour sector
He said discussions are currently at the preparatory stage, adding that the group views the Chinese market as a significant opportunity for Egyptian food products given its vast consumer base and market size
However, he stressed that successful expansion into China requires a detailed understanding of Chinese consumer preferences and market requirements, alongside the development of strong commercial relationships and distribution networks
El-Sebaie said China’s implementation of a “zero-tariff” policy for products originating from African countries could strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian products and create additional opportunities for Egyptian exporters
He added that the group’s products are competitively priced for the Chinese market, expressing expectations that the new customs facilitations would support Egyptian exports and strengthen their presence in China
The Egyptian Swiss Group’s preparations for the Chinese market began proactively well before Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Cairo, as part of the group’s strategy to expand its international markets and capitalize on opportunities arising from the growing economic and trade ties between Egypt and China
